Lists
Lists
Lists enable you to allow your contacts to subscribe to text messages from your organization based on their own interests. You can create multiple specialized lists and enable your contacts to only receive those messages that they're personally interested in.
Contacts can subscribe to a list by texting its join keyword to your TextSync phone number. TextSync will automatically reply with a message that you specify, to confirm that the contact has successfully joined the list.
Contacts can opt-out of receiving list messages at any time by texting STOP.
Creating or Editing a List
You must have permission to Manage Lists and Keywords in your organization to create or edit a list.
To create a new list, select Lists in the left sidebar, then click Create New List.
To edit an existing list, select Lists in the left sidebar, then click on the name of the list that you want to edit.
List Name
Each list must be given a name. List names will be displayed to contacts in some situations; for example, when a contact texts HELP to your TextSync number, TextSync will reply with the name of your organization and the names of all lists that the contact is subscribed to.
To avoid confusing your contacts, we recommend that you set your list name to be the same as the keyword used to join it.
Phone Number
If you have multiple phone numbers in your TextSync organization account, you can choose which phone number the list will belong to. Each phone number has a different set of lists and responder keywords.
An example of a case where you might use multiple phone numbers is if your organization has multiple campuses. In this situation, you might want to have separate list memberships for your different campuses, which can be accomplished by giving each campus its own phone number.
Join Keyword(s)
In order for contacts to be able to join your list, you need to configure at least one join keyword. If you wish, you can configure multiple join keywords; if a contact sends any of the configured keywords, they will be joined to the list.
To close a list to new registrations, you can delete all of its join keywords. It will still be possible to send messages to contacts previously subscribed to the list, but no new contacts will be able to join the list.
Join Confirmation Message
If your list has at least one join keyword, then you must enter a message that will be sent in reply to new registrations. To ensure message deliverability and minimal carrier disruption, we highly recommend that your join confirmation message include the name of your organization and the average message frequency.
Your join confirmation message will automatically have "Reply STOP to quit" added to the end of it, so you don't need to worry about including opt-out instructions.
Example
